The results of the ââ¬ËBobo Doll Experimentââ¬â¢ created a surge of interest into the possible correlation between media violence and violent behaviour. Meyers (2002) conducted a study on the effects of violent video games and violent television (T.V) programs on primary school boys. The school boys were divided into non-violent and violent conditions; watching a violent or non-violent T.V program, playing a violent or non-violent video game or playing a game and watching a T.V program thereafter (Meyers 2002). The children then had to answer a questionnaire ,whereby they had to finish a sentence using a violent or non-violent word, for example; ââ¬Å"I want to ___ the book (tear/read)â⬠(Meyers 2002, p. 17). The second test of violent behaviour was the placement of the children in identical conditions to the ââ¬ËBobo Doll Experimentââ¬â¢. According to Meyers (2002), the children in the violent conditions portrayed more aggressive behaviour patterns than the boys in the non-violent condition, the boys in the combined condition (playing a video game and watching a violent television program) had significantly higher aggression levels than those in any other condition. A Comparison of TASA Model and Danielsonôs Framework for...
I found this assignment the most difficult so far in this class. I am glad that I get to write a reflection on the assignment. After reading the professorââ¬â¢s and classmatesââ¬â¢ comments along with rereading the text, I realized that I missed part of the correlation of the InTASC model with Danielsonââ¬â¢s Framework for Teaching. As a class, we all seemed to agree that there are many similarities between InTASC Model and the Danielsonââ¬â¢s Framework for Teaching. Both models purpose is to help teachers and administration to identify individual strengths and areas of growth. We agreed that there were slight differences in the wordage used and the structure of the Domains vs. Standards but that they were interchangeable for the most part. NYC is using the Danielson Framework to evalua te teachers this year; some concerns have been brought up by administrators and the teachers union. In the piliot program it was noted by one administrator that ââ¬Å"some of her teachers are not scoring as high on the rubric as she would expect ââ¬â precisely because the rubric expects the same general characteristics in all gradesâ⬠(Cromidas, 2012). This is because in the Danielson Framework the observer is looking for weather a teacher is doing the behavior or not. Check mark - there is no distinction between a new teacher and a veteran teacher. The other thing that administrators are noting that the ââ¬Å"practicing observing teachers using Danielson had proved to be time-consumingâ⬠(Cromidas, 2012). It is recommend that they observer spends a number of informal observations lasting at least 15 minutes in the classroom before the official observation and that the report be turned around in 48 hours to the teacher. Maybe she just lost her mother or maybe she is grown and finally realizes why her mother told her all of these things. At the time, Iââ¬â¢m sure she thought her mother was always on her and barking orders at her. She grew up in a different era. Times were different obviously then based on the way they washed their clothes. ââ¬Å"Wash the white clothes on Monday and put them on the stone heap,â⬠and ââ¬Å"soak your little clothes right after you take them off. All of the things the mother said were to mold her daughter into a good strong woman. The reference the mother makes to the daughter on not becoming a slut is kind of odd and disturbing. ââ¬Å"On Sundays try to walk like a lady and not like the slut you are so bent on becoming,â⬠and ââ¬Å"this is how to behave in the presence of men who donââ¬â¢t know you very well, and this way they won ââ¬â¢t recognize immediately the slut I have warned you against becoming. â⬠This maybe the motherââ¬â¢s way of reverse psychology. By putting hese thoughts and references in the girlââ¬â¢s head, she will think twice about things she does. The girl will not want to give the wrong impression and will strive to rise above her motherââ¬â¢s expectations. This story refers to growth and even though it seems to be somewhat harsh, the mother is really striving for a smart productive daughter.
